Candidate Questions

What brought you to Madison? How long have you lived in the city and in your district?

Family and state service brought me to Madison in 2003, and I've been living here since. Since 2009, I have lived in District 7/Ice Age Falls Subdivision.

Why are you running for School Board?

I’m a leader who wants to step up and actually fix the issues facing our community, rather than just talk about them all the time. I strongly believe in community service and giving back to the community. When it comes to serving on the BOE, I saw an opportunity to contribute to and have a positive impact on future generations. Over the years, by being engaged with my children, and communicating with teachers and the administration, I have learned about the many wonderful qualities of our school system, and have also identified areas for improvement.

What sets you apart from your opponents?

  • Diversified Leadership – Diversified people serving together on a board produce more innovative solutions.
  • 25 years of leadership experience in various areas.
  • Trained in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, and has a Master's in Business Administration.
  • Global Learning Experience (Evidence-based results from countries and city councils of Italy, India, South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe)

What do you love most about your district?

Community and Friendships: I have not seen this sense of belonging in any other state or country that I’ve lived in. When I reached out to my neighbors to obtain nomination signatures for this position, everyone was cheering for me as one of their family members. In fact, I was able to collect and submit 200 signatures in less than 24 hours of announcing my candidacy. I believe in karma and I feel the need to give back to this community by serving this community with the strengths I have - leadership and knowledge.
